Join our mission to support local communities and preserve the North East's transport history
Our Mission
The Northern National Restoration Group (NNRG) is a registered charity (1193235) dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of public road passenger transport in the North East of England. Our focus is on safeguarding historic buses and related vehicles that played an important role in connecting communities across the region.
Our charitable mission is to restore, maintain and conserve vehicles of historical significance, ensuring they are protected for future generations to enjoy. Through careful restoration and ongoing preservation work, we keep alive the engineering, craftsmanship and design that shaped the North East’s transport heritage.
Education and public benefit are at the heart of what we do. We actively share knowledge about the history of road passenger transport and the skills involved in vehicle restoration. By exhibiting our vehicles at rallies, community events and heritage displays, we provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn about and experience transport history first-hand.
As a volunteer-led organisation, we also promote community involvement by encouraging individuals to develop practical skills, learn about heritage conservation and take part in preserving the region’s transport legacy. Through engagement, education and restoration, NNRG works to ensure that the story of the North East’s buses continues to be told for generations to come.

Why Our Work Matters
Buses are more than vehicles they are part of the region’s identity. They supported industry, enabled access to education and employment, and connected towns and villages for decades.
By restoring and exhibiting historic vehicles, we:
Protect irreplaceable heritage assets
Share skills in mechanical and heritage restoration
Provide educational opportunities for all ages
Inspire community pride in the North East’s transport history
